Cutting aluminum Need help ASAP

I need help, ASAP. I need to know how to cut a sheet of aluminum. It's for an English project and I don't know how to go about doing it. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, we are working on the Toulmin model and advertisements. Our product is a candle holder, and the aluminum is for the base.

Tin snips. Get thee to the hardware store and get some tin snips. Should run you about $10 or so.

Re: Cutting aluminum Need help ASAP

We have some tin snips around somewhere, but we can't find them. Any other suggestions?

Hmmm... I would recommend against a band saw, or also for that matter a chain saw. I suppose a cutting laser would work- but I expect tin snips would be a bit more practical.

Re: Cutting aluminum Need help ASAP

if the aluminium is not too thick and it's still in flat sheet form, then patience and a steady supply of stanley knife blades can give you a perfect straight cut. And a heavy ruler helps.

That probably still wouldn't be heavy enough. I'm a fairly light guy. Only 140lbs.

Re: Cutting aluminum Need help ASAP

One Of The Really Neat Things About Working As A Metal Fabricator Is
That I Get To "Play" With Some Very Cool Tools/Machines!
The One That You Need To Use Is A Sheetmetal Sheer.
Look In Your Local Yellowpages & Find a Sheetmetal/Fabrication Shop
Call A Few Up And Ask If They Will Cut It For You(If You Have The Aluminum Allready)
If You Still Need The Metal,See If They Have Any In The "Scrap Bin"
They Can Cut & Sell To You.

Or If You Can Wait A Few Days,
P/M Me Your Address And The Exact Specs And I'll Send You One
Hope This Helps,Jake

does your school have a welding shop or auto class? someone there should be able to cut it for you. or lend you a tool to cut it.
