Question Shaking neon =(

Alright this thread is open to emails as well as post. so if you think you have a higher knowledge then me on this one please do share. I own a automatic 2000 plymouth neon, with 115k miles on it. Ive had nothing but bad luck with this car since i got it slightly over a year ago. if i gas from a stop on a hill *facing upward* it will shake violently until i let off the gas and then feather it until i guess it shifts into 2nd *rember its an auto*. if i attempt to spin the tires going uphill downhill of as im thinking of doing, off into a river the tire feel like they are jumping. now there is a number of things wrong with the car. it also shakes if i gas out of making a turn. now the reason im not saying its transmission is because when i had my front breaks replaced my abs/traction control sensor broke. so the abs and trac light is on inside the car. well the reason im concerned is i live near NYC and i was on the highway in the city and i slammmmmmed into a pot hole and it hit so hard i blew out my passenger side head light. well then i was on the city street and took a hard right it sounded like a jackhammer coming from the front of my car. now i was told this could be one or more of the following, cv joint, tire rods, abs/traction control related, transmission, bad alignment of tires etc.

now the reason im posting here is because im dam near broke, and i cant afford to go and have all these things checked. anyone that has information please pass it off to me by posting and emailing me at joey2005@yahoo.com. thanks

Replace your spark plugs with stock champions, check for broken motor mounts for the shaking, popping noise is probably your CV joints. If you don't have alot of money, hit up a junkyard for the CV joints or just replace the whole axle!

Try going to Brake check, they will do a free check of your suspension parts and tell you what is bad probably.

Front motor mount and install new plugs.

Are both your front tires the same tire?

Re: Shaking neon =(

Yes i just had my brakes rotors and new tired, replaced all 4 at once and there is under 15k on the new tires. im headed to do some errans and pick up the spark plugs in the process. can a regular mechanic check for cv joints? or could i do it myself with a little coaching? i noticed yesterday that when i hit the pot hole it acually dented my stock rim and chipped the wheel cover. also i dont think when they got installed that the morons that did it aligned them, the reason i say that is there is no weights anywhere on any of the tires. so ill add that to the list as well i guess. im thinking of when i get my new job that ill just buy my GTO and push this car off the bridge =P

...That could be your shaking problem right there. The neon is very sensitive to wheel balance. Have your wheels rebalanced to the nearest 1/8 ouce instead of 1/4 ounce.

Re: Shaking neon =(

Unbalanced wheels will not cause a shaking when accelerating from a stand still.

Yes it would, if you front tires are slightly different, you bet your bum it would cause some vibration off the line as the tranny struggles to turn two slightly different sized tires.

Re: Shaking neon =(

It kinda feels like the wheels are hopping when im coming from a dead stop, but when im turning and it does it its more like a popping or cranking type noise.
