32" BFG MTs - Deal or not?
Can I get your thoughts on this:
I can get 4 32" BFG MTs for $260. They are practically brand new. The only catch is that they were used for offroad racing and have two grooves in the tread for such. The tires were only used in 2 races, so its like getting brand new tires for less than half the price. My question is do you think the grooves will effect the performance of the tire at all; onroad, offroad and overall tread life? Here's a picture below. Also, you can mount these on stock 15x7 rims, right? I feel like an idiot for asking, cause I know I've seen it, but I just went to NTW's site and they recommend using between an 8" and 10" rim.

Yeah, they'll fit the stock rims.
The only concerns I can think of is that they might be more apt to "chunk" on rocks and such since they'll be able to get in and tug at the lugs more readily, and that they might feel a little "wiggly" on the road. Tread life will probably be affected a bit, and they might be a bit noisier too. I'd go for it though... Brent |

Sounds like a good deal. I'd go for it too. All of the tire manufactures seem to recomend an 8 to 10 inch rim for a 32X11.00 tire. They list the BFG size 33X10.50 as being compatable with a 7" rim. However, numerous people are running 32's without any problems. I haven't seen anyone complaining of adverse effects. You will get better rim protection with a wider tire. If you check out a few offroad magazines you will see people running huge tires on relatively skinny wheels.
