h22a ignition timing
Hi All,
well I have had no joy in previous post so I am reposting so as to jog any ones memory. the problem I have is the timing. the engine was running at 6 degrees btdc instead of the recommended 15 degrees and I was getting a hesitation because of it, however the tick over was fine and when the car was reved the tacho needle would rise then drop down to 700 rpm and sit there no problem with no hunting issues whats so ever. I have now readjusted the timing to stock 15 degrees and the hesitation has now gone and pulls lovely however when I rev the car/drive normally and come to a stop the revs go up to 900 rpm then sit at 7009 rpm. also now when I turn the steering wheel the revs rise back up to 900 then settle down but it never did this before. I have reset the ecu and have followed the manuals reset procedure for the ecu to learn but its no different. it only does it when i come to a stop, it was fine at 6 degrees but with hesitation but set to stock and its got this annoying problem of not returning to idle straight away. I have adjusted the idle screw as per the manual with the cel connector shorted out as well and this made no difference. The stoble light shows the 15 degree mark no problem when ticking over but when you rev the car it doesn't show the mark until the revs have gone back up and then settled down. Is this because the tps needs to be adjusted now that I have altered the dizzy timing or is there something else. As I said there were no problems when it was set at 6 degrees bar the problem of hesitation when driving so has any one out there suffered with this and found the answer to it as its really is annoying me. help!!! this is one of the last issues for me to sort so any advice please otherwise I will have to take it to the stealership to have it put on there machine to sort out. Any precise instructions would be gratefully received. thanks julian |

Re: Re: h22a ignition timing
Idle should increase when you turn the steering wheel (thereby increasing the workload on the engine). Power steering units have a pressure switch that increases idle when PS pressure builds.
