Re: disable DRL

i had a 99 blazer that I disabled the DRL's by pulling a fuse under the hood, and in my 98 Aurora they're disabled by unplugging a harness under the hood on the left fenderwall, and on my buddy's 98 Grand Prix, they're disabled by pulling a fuse from the interior fuse panel.

i want to because i would like to be able to have all my lights off when im coming home up the drive way to try to keep everyone from waking up, some nights i dont get in until late, thats why i disabled the automatic headlights....and honestly also because i dont like the way they look. im not sure of a dome override button.

Maybe take out the bulb? Because I know that the daytime running lights on my Monte atleast is on a different bulb than the regular lights which I use at night.

well the DRL's come on when its light enough out and when its dark enough out if the automatic headlights were still functional the DRL's would go out and the headlights would come on...but since thats disabled the headlights dont come on until i turn them on but the DRL's stay on until i turn the headlights on...you are right that the DRL's are a different bulb that the headlights but the problem is that the DRL's and the front turn signals are the same bulbs. thanks again...if i cant figure out another way that may be what i have to do...thanks!

Well sucks for you because my turn signals are on a different bulb too.

Have you tried to take away the relay? Because if I remember correctly there's a DRL relay or so.. keep looking around and do a search on google.

at first i disabled them by unhooking the c2 connector behind the cd player and that disabled the automatic headlights and drls, then i cut the green wire in the fuse box under the hood to the fog lights to stay on with the high beams and it turned the automatic headlights and drls back on so in the dash there is a light sensor, i pulled the sensor out and put a wire in both holes and taped it up and now they automatic headlights are off and i can keep the fog lights on with the high beams but the drl's came back on.

Re: disable DRL

ok, i just read the other thread on how you disabled the automatic lights, did you use just a plain wire or a resistor? on my 99 Blazer I had to put a 1.5ohm resistor in the sensor harness.

i just used a plain wire and it works fine disabling the automatic headlights...just the problem im having is that when i re wired the fog lights to stay on with the high beams it turned my drl's and automatic headlights back on, i have the automatic headlights fixed...now if i could only get rid of those damn drl's lol...im sorry i know this is horribly confusing without actually being here and seeing it first hand lol, thanks for your help!
