Stronger D Series Tranny

I am going to be building up a D Series SOHC VTEC Monster this machine is going to be turboed. This thing is going to be pumpin some high horse power. I know that with enough building I can get this motor to handle some good stress. But what about the Tranny? I have a 92-95 civic ex tranny right now that will need to be changed because the second gear scratches. What kind of tranny do you recommend I should change it to? I need something strong and I know the 92-95 trannies kind of suck. Thank you for your time.

Don't know what to tell you about stronger D-series transmissions. I hate them. My 2nd one is now on the way out. It now grinds when going into 2nd AND 3rd. Also sometimes pops out of 2nd gear when just cruising around a parking lot or something. I'd just say aim for that B18C1. I sure hope B series transmission are stronger.

Hey, what were your 1/8 and 1/4 mile times?

Well I have not clocked my car yet but I should be hitting somewhere in the high 15's a long time ago when I first got the car it had an intake and a short throw I was hitting 16.43 I just ordered an Unorthodox Race Pulley and I am going to also try thier Ultra Race Cam Sprocket. That was for the 1/4 mile time. I do not know what my 1/8 mile time is I don't have the slips anymore.

I've also been interested in changing transmissions in my 98 Civic EX. I was hoping for a close ratio transmission (at least gears 1-3), and possibly a wide 4th and 5th for cruising... Does such a thing exist, or can I assemble it. I want real, premade parts, no custom fabrication for me.

There is a tranny out there with closer gear ratio's and it is the ZC Tranny but I think it is a cable tranny but they should have Hydro ZC Tranies because they do make a 1.6 SOHC VTEC ZC motor for our car and they should have a tranny that fits that motor.

I e-mailed them and they don't make transaxles for my car. I need to whole tranny and I need one that is bulletproof. Dammit I am still in a search for the custom strong tranny for my car. I would like to talk to 13secondcivic and ask him what tranny he used to get his SOHC to run 12's

Yea ur right. A tranny like the VX would be perfect for turbo because of it's "long gears". If you had a EX tranny and it was boosted then you would get through the gears way to quick and top out. I believe the VX does 40 in first, 70 in second, 100+ in third and im not real sure about the rest but like i said it has "long gears".
