95 Jimmy - Won't shift past 2nd...w/ other jerking issues

Okie, this thread is a continuation of another thread. Since, the problem has changed and finally settled down to one issue.
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=403260
I thought the tranny was slipping ... it was not... so I wanted to start a new thread with a better title.

At first the issue was it would start out in second gear and then go thru the gears normally. Then, it finally started out in first gear but would not shift past second.

I have tried playing with the shift lever and that does not matter.

It has 79,000 miles on her and is 4 wheel drive with the V6 vortech.

It basicly will not shift to third gear at all. The ONLY way to get it to shift third gear is to redline it in second. Then it goes

The other thing it is doing also it is sometimes it is very very jerky when acclerating.

At one point yesterday it was doing this. Just in stop/go traffic it be just jerking along. I decided to put it back in park and the rpm would go up to 2500-3000. In N it would idle normal. So, with an idle like that it wanted to GO It idles/revs great in part and N.

I do not know what the deal is with this truck.

At one point it did have a CE light and it said 756 for tranny shift solinoid 2-3. Now, since I left the battey unplugged for a long while no light no code.

Is there a good book I can buy to learn about this transmission?

I guess the shift solinoids are exposed when you drop the pan?
Any body got a picture of what I am looking for?
I found this website... I am guessing this is the 4l60E tranny.

Do I want D74421 or 74421?

I am getting so frustrated I just want to drop it off at the dealer...but I know that would prob be the biggest mistake ever.

transmission

Hi I have a 97 chev blazer 4x4 4.3 also. My tranny was doing great until today. I heard a little noise and then it just started slipping. It would go in 3rd and shift ok unless I hit passing gear then nothing. After I got it home it started going in all forward gears but nothing in reverse. I also checked the tranny oil it was fine. I let you know If I find anything out. If you do let me know thanks. My luck is holding I posted another tranny problem with the 91 eclipse. I also have my sons 85 300zx up on jacks with the 5 speed manual pulled out. It needed the whole pressure plate assembly etc. When it rain it pours.

Your valve body needs replaced. Common prob on these trannies. The code from your first set actually told ya that
