Auto Shifter the same on Xterra and Pathfinder?

I'm looking to switch out my 4x4 knob and auto shifter in my Xterra with the leather ones that come in the Pathfinder. I've read that the 4x4 shifter is the same, but is the Auto shifter also the same?

Forgot the part numbers, but it matches nicely with the steering wheel.

Where'd you get yours and how much was it? The dealer quoted me $65 for the 4x4 shifter and $110 for the auto shifter. Whew! Pricey!

Thanks for the info. I ordered the parts today. Now, you said your AUTO shifter was the same one as the pathfinder right? The dealer told me today that if it didn't fit, I couldn't return it.

On a good note, I did get the parts for dealer cost. My sales guy hooked me up. Saved me about $50.

Yes, it's the exact same as the pathy.

Disassemble the shifter console...
There's two wires that connect two the bottom of the shifter (they provide the connection for your overdrive). Pull straight down on the white plug with a bit of force and it will snap free. Insert the two ends of the new shifter electrical connects into the white plug and snap it back into place. reassmble shifter assembly and you're done.

Take your time and don't force it.

I took my auto shifter apart today just to see how it went together. I didn't have to disassemble the auto shifter console, I just removed the two screws that hold the shifter to the shift rod, pulled the shifter up, and removed the white connector at the bottom. I didn't know about the connector at the bottom at first. As I pulled up on the shifter it popped loose. I'm lucky I didn't break any wires.

My new leather shifters should be here tomorrow. I'm gonna stop by Sears and pick up one of those new Craftsman "strap" wrenches to use to remove my stock 4x4 shifter. Hopefully I can get it off without having to cut it.

Thanks for the info. I'd hate to have been out $80 for the shifter because it didn't fit.
