84 - 91 civic hb

I am considering getting a 84-91 Civic hb in the mid to late summer. The ultimate goal is to swap another engine into it (down the road aways), but what my question was was that if there were any probs to be had with these years civics what would they be? I just want to know what to look for if anything might be wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Yeah, RUST!!

IMO that's the worst problem with those cars.

yeah, the body is all I really care about. Hopefully I'll be able to get a car that has little or no rust for cheap! Anything else???....

hey all I can say is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I do agree that I don't care for that body style as much as some of the other civic body styles (ooohhh the EG) but it still does appeal to me.

Think about this, would it embarass you more or less if you were beat by anewer tricked out car or an older stock body style? My answer would have to be the latter.

Besides doesn't anyone like the look of the lights on an '84? I think they look pretty sweet the way that the sides come around them a bit.

The 84-87 Civics and CRXs mayn not have the sweetest looks, but if you are talking engine swaps they are the lightest modern Civic chassis.

When the 3rd Gens started making the sealed beam headlights it make them look alot nicer.
I have an 86, and it doesnt look like shit at all.
