Re: how to install a short shifter for 92 xe sentra?
1st of all, i think your talkin about the 2 on the top. no no no! you have to change the shifter through the bottom, meanin you have to drop the exhaust, the heat shield, and then some bolts. 1st of all, lift the car as much as you can(all around). make sure its safe! use jack stands! anyway, to make it easier, you unscrew and remove the exhaust bolts that are near the back tire. then you remove the hangers that are 2 by the CAT, and one on the rear near the gas tank. they are an ass to remove! then you drop that and slide the back part to the left side of the car! then you remove the heat shield. they are 5 8mm screws. now you can see the shifter. you unscrew the 2 bolts that hold the base of the shifter and the 2 that hold the shifter rod. then you uncrew the bolt that holds the shifter in its spot. you pull it donw a bit. then you remove the shift bushings, and pull the shifter all the way down. now install the new one and put everything back in place. It should take you about 1 hour because i told you all the step already, so you know what to do. the 1st time it took me 2 1/2 hours so dont be mad if it takes you a while. peace out
