input greatly appreciated

alright, i am relatively new to the whole import world. i do know a bit about engines and racing because of friends of mine and their cars and my truck. right now, i am looking for a car. i like the civics a lot because, personally, i think they look the best. i have found this car:
96 civic

i know that the DX is not the best model. and to me it seems like the 20+ horsepower short of the other models is a lot. but what do you guys think? any questions i should ask the guy? any help is great

kenny

thats quite a bit for a DX....I'm even selling my 96 EX for $8000 and it has only 60K miles....I've seen some 96 Civic DXs go for as little as $5000 with fairly low milage.

Find out some stuff about his mods - what are the wheels, what's the suspension setup like, what brand is the cat-back....

Personally, I'd spend the money on a better model than a DX... you can certainly get one for $7800, and get it without the mods. That way you can design and build your own car.... hell when you really got into the scene and found out about a lot of stuff, you might find that you think the setup the car has now is garbage.

I guess it comes down to whether you wanna fork out a little extra cash for a baseline civic with a few mods already in place? Or get a better model (like an EX) that's in perfect condition that you can make YOUR car?

for all you know, he could have been a rev happy ricer! VROOM 8000 rpms at every stoplight, import, domestic, hot chick, ugly chick he saw... just a thought. try and buy from a middle aged person. you know they used it for work, or grocery. i would never buy a 5spd from an 80 yr old woman though. who knows how many times her arthritis acted up and she missed a shift.

ok sorry... i took it a bit far... lol
