Angry Starting problem related to idiot lights not working?

98 Olds Bravada - driving on freeway and all dash lights flashed, battery light stayed on and then car died. Shop did diagnose and replaced battery. I replaced the Alternator and belt afterwards just to be safe.
Now, I can turn the key to ON and only the battery light comes on and the battery guage and others do not work. The car will turn over and not start. The radio and interior lights work. I checked all the fuses. I then turned the key to On and all the idiot lights came on and the car started. I turned the car off. I turned key to On position again and only Battery light on. 5 seconds later all the lights came alive and the guages worked and then the car would start. MY guess is may a relay?

Replaced alternator, belt and neutral safety switch and it still did not fix it. Dealer replaced ignition switch ($400 - part, labor, diagnostics). Problem solved.
