Re: electric supercharger turcharger
If you had done a search, you would have found about 30 replies saying that they just don't work. Period.
They can't supply more than about 1 psi, and that's only at just off idle. Any more and they're just a drain and restriction in the inlet. Real superchargers take anywhere from 5 to 20 hp to run and even THEN, they don't provide boost at higher rpms. They can reduce the vacuum, but for the most part, they don't provide boost unless its a real race setup with a huge blower. That electric motor probably doesn't produce more than about 1/20th of a horsepower, nor can that type of motor produce much torque; therefore, it blows air like a heater motor blows air. Flow, but no pressure. If you put your hand over the outlet of that electric supercharger, it wouldn't force air past your hand, it would just spin faster like when you put your hand over the vacuum cleaner hose. True superchargers make flow and pressure, not just flow. Trust me, if it sounds too good to be true, it is. Do a search

Re: electric supercharger turcharger
Curtis is correct, these things are POS...I mean look at it...it is a supercharger made out of plastic.
People don't need direct experience to tell you what will work and what wont. This isn't groundbreaking, it is a POS that is made by someone who wants to get rich on ebay, and relies on the uninformed consumer. I've never jumped from a tenth-story window, but I can tell you it would hurt alot...I've never used an electric supercharger, but I can tell you they suck.

They make a nice fan when you're sitting in the staging lanes! BTW, spell-check burst into flames when I ran that one!!

well i kno enuff about superchargers and turbochargers and kno how they work and wat they do i wasnt asking if this gave me a 20 hp gain im wondering if the fan was only on at WOT and pushing more air into the engine then u would get a LITTLE more power this theory would make sense JUST like mass air flow systems and bigger intakes im not looking for huge hp jumps this would only be pushing not compressing sum more air in the engine and we all kno more air means more power arent i correct?

Quote:
If you re-read the above posts you will see the answer is "NO, they do not work". Curtis already stated that it is highly unlikely that it will even work at idle and provided his reasoning. Now given that it probably does not work at idle the trend probably indicates that it does not work at WOT either. However, if you believe it works then you should buy it and tell us about it.

Re: electric supercharger turcharger
Think of it this way. According to your profile, you have a TA and a Mustang. Both of these make around 150hp and 220hp (stock) respectively. An engine on the intake stroke is basically a large vacuum pump. So you have a 200hp pump sucking air in, and you want to add a .05hp fan to help it get air? Common sense says it won't work.
Superchargers and turbochargers are designed only to compress and flow large ammounts of air, and require a significant ammount of power. This is a plastic fan that uses nearly no power and is not designed to compress any air or flow any significant ammount. It is possible to make an electric supercharger - go buy a 20hp motor, find somewhere to fit it in your car, hook a gearbox and a compressor to it, load the front of your engine with high output alternators and you've done it - added a giant 150 pound motor to your car which is powered by a excessively complex and inefficient means, and filled your engine bay with alternators. Not to mention the cost of a 20hp electric motor.. I haven't ever priced one, but I'd imagine they're not exactly pocket change. Probably over $1000. If you want a remote mounted supercharger, you can run a fluid turbine off the crank connected to one on a compressor. |

Hey spellcheck,
Go ahead and buy one and tell us if it works. I would seriously like to here and informed opinion. That was one long sentence.

What are you guys talking about?? I have a stage 4 electro-tron supercharger in my car and i have 342.2whp. Those electric superchargers work!
Nahh....i'm just kidding.

yes the stuff on ebay is crap, there are those that are never for sale on ebay, because of the bad hype with the wannabees selling fakes. and they never have dyno's or any customer service in case something goes wrong. you should check us out @ www. '' in house products '' we stand behind ours!!

Re: electric supercharger turcharger
I'm gonna close this since it keeps popping up and its not supposed to be here anyway. We have a Forced induction forum.
