I do apologize in advance if this is a the million-and-one question about shaving the side molding. I tried to search but no luck. I also tried to contact Rice_Rocketeer who had a nice write-up on shaving the door handles but no reply.
Anyway, I'd like to "shave" the side moldings off before I get my car painted. What's the easiest/efficient/best looking method? I've heard of actually banging the grooves out from behind, filling the whole thing with bondo, welding a peice of metel the whole molding length. Any response or forwarded links are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. |

Re: how to "shave" side moldings?
cheap way to do it is to just take the moldings off and then filling the gap with bondo. The proper way to do it would be to weld a piece of sheet metal, then using bondo to smooth everything out.

if you just bondo it, it will eventually crack and look like crap, then you would have to re do it. Weld metal in, then use as little bondo as possible to get it smooth
