HELP on 33" tire choice

What brand of 33" tires should i go with on my 94 4runner? I want something that is both aggressive looking and very reliable. I drive more on road than i do offroad and i need some suggestions on what's a good tire....BFG, SuperSwampers, Pro Comp, Goodyear...what has everyone had good experience with?

Swampers are definatly gonna be the most agressive looking. I personally couldnt handle the sound they make. They wear out a lot faster than any other tires. If you want something with an argressive look but not quite as far as swampers, you could get Mud Terrains or Xterrains. BFG and Procomp are both good brands. I think goodyear makes some type of tire smilar to the xterrain but i think its alot more expensive. Hope this helps

Re: HELP on 33" tire choice

I was already startin' to lean towards BFG M/T's...thanks a lot for the help! By the way, does anyone know if the Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip tires are any good? One thing is that they are expensive as anything but they look good....

Re: HELP on 33" tire choice

I have Goodyear MTR's on my 97 Runner. I did quite a bit of research on tires and found that the Goodyear's are a better tire then The BFG's. Even more so in the snow and mud. Off-roaders here are using them for rock crawling. I have only heard good things about the Goodyear's, and the Pro-comp line of tires are really good as well, they are my second chose for tires. Don't get me wrong the BFG's are really good tires. And this is for someone that drives on pavement, i mean someone that uses there 4x4 as a daily driver. Good luck

Hey thanks a lot for the tips. Were you saying that the BFG or the Goodyear was a better tire on pavement for the daily driver?

Mud terrain style tires typically suck on pavement. I know from experience, especially in the rain. I have the Goodyear MT/R's, I could not say anything bad about them for off road purposes, they are bad ass; in the rain, on pavement, they suck. You have to remember, the tread design has a purpose, it's not all about looks even though some people don't agree. You have to look past what other people think or say. I once heard a girl say something kinda stupid. She said, "I put Super Swampers on my truck because I like the noise they make when I drive down the street.) If she would have said that she likes them because she gets stuck less when she drives in the mud, I would have been a little more impressed with her and her truck.
There are plenty of choices of All Terrain style tires that are excellent off road and do very good on pavement and that also look good. Mickey Thompson, Kelly Springfield, Dunlop, Bridgestone also make good tires. Mickey Thompson has the new ATX, it's not on the web site yet, but I have read the reviews and seen pictures, I think it's pretty bad ass.
I use to work in the tire industry for many many many years, I think I know a little about tires.
