2 50 watt speakers on a 40X4w radio that heats up

Ok i had two 50watt speakers in my room and i put them in my trunk on the rear speaker wires one on the left and the other on the right . On the front wires i put 2 tweeter .

my radio tends to heat up pretty quickly and my friends tell me that it heats up because the speaker are to much for the radio .

Is that possible ?

the only thing that could affect the receiver is the ohm load that its getting from the speakers. cause the wattage of a speaker doesnt matter. 50w speakers doesnt mean theyre taking 50w from the receiver, it just means it can handle up to 50w. and im sure your radio isnt putting out 40w. thats probably the max, the rms power is most likely something like 15 or 20watts.

why dont you just buy a set of speakers fir for your car?

the amount of watts a speaker can absorb has NOTHING to do with how loud it will play or how it will sound ........

The speakers won't make it louder if you still have the same deck (radio). You have to get a different deck that puts out more watts for your speakers to get louder. Or if you don't want to get a new deck, you can get an amplifier, which will put out more power, and make your speakers louder.
As for it getting hot, I wouldn't worry about it. My stock radio in my 00 civic gets really really hot, too hot to even touch sometimes.

OK thanks so i guess i dont have to worry but what i meant about the speakers is: Will it soud louder or lower depending on the wattage of the s[eakers I buy because i wont be buying an amp soon and it would begood if i could buy the 150 watts in have them there while i wait for the amp

ok BlueCivic83, one more time.

it does not matter what speakers you buy. the wattage of a speaker is ONLY how much it can handle, it has nothing to do with how loud it will play. if you want speakers to play louder you have to get an amp to push more watts to it. if you plan on getting an amp down the road, just get a pair of speakers with a 50-75wrms. that should suffice. just be pacient until you get an amp, playing loud music off a stock deck is just gonna sound like ass anyways.
