Hold my control arm please...
I am looking to do the old shim/washer trick on my rear suspension to fix my camber and was looking for the numerous people on this forum that seem to have done it.
1) Will I need a torque wrench to get off the stock bolts, or will a ratchet w/extension and some muscle be enough? 2) How bad is it to not tighten the bolts back to stock requirements? (26 ft/lbs) 3) Can I take off one bolt at a time, loosening the other just enough to get the washers on? Or will I have to remove both at the same time and have someone (or something) hold up the control arm while I work? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Re: Hold my control arm please...
1) Don't be a girl, use some muscle. And a torque wrench is used to measure the torque being placed on the bolt. A breaker bar is used to apply LOTS of torque to a bolt.
2) Just tighten them down nicely so they won't off under heavy load or extended use. 3) use a jack to hold the trailing arm up while you do it one bolt at a time. But you need to loosen both bolts decently or one will be holding the other so tightly that you won't be able to work with it.

Yea that's what i was gonna say. Stick a jack under the trailing arm to hold it up. The bolts are easy to get off. C'mon...im a girl and i did it.:finger:
