Finnaly got enough cash for a blower!
So between my rebate check and the bike i just sold i have almost enough cash to buy a new Vortech blower setup. I was wondering if i would need any special tools, or if any special tools would ease instalation. I know they say it takes about 5 hours to install it, but i doubt i will get it done that quickly. Are there any problems that are common when putting a blower on a 5.0(i mean the instalation aspect of it)? I have not bought it yet because i am waiting till i solve the electical problem with my car, and then i want to drive it for awhile since i have not been able to since i bought it almost 7 months ago! But damn it feels good to know i can finnaly afford a supercharger!

The toughest part to the install is the drain into the oil pan. Your gonna need a punch the right size to peen in the edges of the oil pan so you have enough metal to cut some threads into. Also to cut the threads the right size tap. Everything else is basic hand tools.

Re: Finnaly got enough cash for a blower!
Thanks, i just downloaded the instruction for the install from summit and it listed all the tools that are needed in there. After reading it awhile it seems straight forward. The only question i have now is do i really need that special tool that disonnects the fuel lines? Also i searched about upgrading the vortech unit, but i could not find what i am looking for. How much boost can the entry level kit produce without damaging the blower and how do i achieve this?

Yes spend the $10 on the tool for the fuel and a/c lines.
Depends what Vortech head unit comes with the kit your buying how much you can make(max). And altering psi is done through pulleys sizes.

Screw foolin with the oil pan! Get a Morso oil pan. It has the hole already in the front for the Return SC oil line. It will save you from future leaks and problems.

Re: Finnaly got enough cash for a blower!
The kits i have been looking at come with the V1-s trim unit. I know that changing pullyes will raise/lower PSI but i also want to know if i would buy the pullyes from vortech, or if there is a junk yard source for the blower and/or the crank pulley.
