D16Z6 in place of D15Z1
Guys, the archive was down so I have to post this question to you without doing my research. I am thinking of replacing the D15Z1 head in my VX with a D16Z6 head. Do you think that it will be a straight forward swap. They are both VTEC SOHC heads so I am inclined to think that it won't be too bad. My concern is, will I be able to use the same intake/exhaust manifolds, distributor, timing belt, ECU, etc.?
Thanks.

I would love to, but I don't have the finances for that right now. The reason I want to do it is because the D15Z1 needs some headwork done, so instead I want to install a D16Z6 head if it is any easier. If not I will have to consider the full D16Z6 swap after driving the D15Z1 to death.
Does anybody have a D15Z1 or a D16Z6 head lying around? Thanks.

Re: D16Z6 in place of D15Z1
I have a 92 Honda Civic with a D15B7 engine, I have a cylinder head from a D15Z1 engine. does anyone know if these heads are interchangeble?? Can I swap the heads?
Thanx |

Re: D16Z6 in place of D15Z1
Dude, next time start your own thread instead of bringing back one that is more than a year old.
And it would be kind of stupid to do that head swap. The VX engine has 92hp where the DX/LX engine has 102hp. If you need a new head then I'd suggest getting either a new D15B7 or a D16Z6 one. |
