Progress~ Hasegawa Honda Civic Hatchback (EG6)

Here is my other current project. Its the Hasegawa Honda Civic VTi/ETi (Kit No. CD10:1600). The color is same as my Fujimi Integra Type R Dupli Color Honda Artic Silver. Im planning on using the Fujimi Racing Bucket Seats and N1 Exhaust from the GTW Wing Set and Muffler Set. The steering wheel will be the Aoshima Racing Steering wheel from the Drift Parts Set. Im still debating on which rims to use. I have a set of Spoon SW-388's and a pair of Advan RG's. I seriously love EG's with Spoon Wheels but the RG's look soo awesome! Only thing that is keeping me back from using the RG's is that the RG's are very thin since they came in a cartoonish model (thanks BlownCivic ) Suspension is still incomplete, better yet not even started.

Here are some pictures.

Spoon SW-388's

Advan RG's

I agree....Id go with the Advans. For being an old kit, its not too hard to get a hold of these. Cant wait to see whats in store for this.

Well... both rims look good. But I have to agree wit hyou that those Advans are very thin. Maybe you could try making them wider... I think it would look way better if they were around the same width as those Spoon wheels.

Either way, I'm looking forward to see more pictures of the progress.

I have been fiddle faddling with styrene trying to make them wider but no luck yet. They would really look good on a 1/25 scale Civic Hatchback. Maybe i should buy one Another one I tried fitting the Spoon mirrors that come with the Spoon Integra but they seem to be 1/25 scale also. Man all of these little mistakes are making me really want another Revell Civic.

I put the tires that Hasegawa provides with the kit on the Spoon wheels and they look way better. Maybe i'll stay with the Spoon's and try giving the EG a good ol' Lowering. The Spoon banner in the back would look cool on this EG Im a sucker for Spoon!

I don't think i will be able to do anything to the models tomorrow since i have to go take my sister to Laguardia Airport in NY since she is leaving to Spain

I more thought along the lines of cutting a little of another wheel and adding it to the Advans. If you add in in the rear of the Advans you have them only wider, and if you add it in the front of the Advans you have a little deepdish look. The only thing to think about is if you are willing to sacrifice some wheels for this...

but If I were you I'd go with the Spoons. They suit the car better.

Re: Re: Progress~ Hasegawa Honda Civic Hatchback (EG6)

So now with the Hasegawa Tires and the wheel well sanded down i was able to place the wheels a little more low. What you guys think

Since i am still waiting for the fixed pair of Spoon's to arrive from HLJ i have an extra set of these Spoon so i might paint them to see how they look in silver, etc. Making them Rota Slipstreams. Just for fun.

Anybody know of any rims that might look similar to some GAB's ?????

Re: Re: Re: Progress~ Hasegawa Honda Civic Hatchback (EG6)

UPDATE:

I decided to use the Spoon Mirrors provided from the Honda Spoon Sports Integra Type R. I borrowed the mirror holders from the Sport mirrors provided by Hasegawa. The mirrors will be two tone. The holders will be black and the mirrors will be silver.

Holder and the Spoon mirror.

Sport Mirrors. Right one has the holders removed.

So far im leaning towards the Spoon rims but i still dont have the full set since 2 wheels came damaged from HLJ and im still waiting for their answer. Thats why i only have two good Spoon wheels in the pictures. The RG's im planning on using on another Civic that i will buy...or maybe a CRX.

You build some of the best Civic's I've seen so far. I'm sure this will bring the same kind of result.

Just wondering (assuming you're using Dupli-Color spraycans), what kind of primer do you use?

Thanks Malcolm,

For this Civic i used Tamiya Fine Surface Primer (white) since i wanted the Silver to look very light. For my Royal Blue Civic Coupe i used Dupli Color Sandable Primer (Black) and for the Light Driftwood Metallic EJ8 Civic Hatchback on my signature i used Dupli Color Sandable Primer (Grey).
