Best 3" lift kit

I have 1991 commanch with 4 liter -5 speed, short bed. What left kit gives the best ride, both off road and street? What problems are created for the drive train?

cant tell you which is best since I havent been able to compare but 3" is about the most you want to raise BEFORE problems with the drivetrain are likely. (or frequent)

What are the things to watch out for (problem wise) when it comes to lifting a Cherokee? I've been idly thinking about lifting my Jeep a few inches and throwing some nice offroad tires on it.

What should I look out for with the drivetrain and whatever else?

make sure on the cammanche to check for the brake compensation valve. it a lil thing hooked to the rear brake system that uses the height of the truck to adjust the compensation of the brakes for a load.im pretty sure the still use those on there. look for a device hooked into the brake lines in the rear

Post beware

ok, i lifted my jeep with rough country lift.. off the internet..

lift was great.. and at 140 bucks.. couldn't go wrong..

but i needed new shocks that the guy told me i didn't need..

front end allignment, wheels balanced, shocks, rubbing ( maybe) maybe brake lines... more gas, more ware on brakes,..

the list goes on.. i like the lift, and i like the tires , but just a pain in the ass...but i go farther in a mud pit that stock jeeps.. pretty funny at a red light and i look down on another jeep cherokee.. mines a 89.. its great to see a stock 01 or somthing with a family as i chug mine by..beauty

-email me about lift kits.. or anythin

Re: Best 3" lift kit

Hi there, I have a 96 Cherokee, but this still might help. Rocky-Road Outfitters ( www.rocky-road.com ) has a great 2" econo lift that I put on and gave me the look I wanted, but no performance problems. Check them out, very helpful!

Re: Best 3" lift kit

Would recommend going with a 3 or 4 1/2" lift. I have a 2" on my Xj and wish now I would have gone and gotten the bigger lift. As far as things to change, Your T-case output shaft, rear driveshaft, The lift should have everything else you need. Figure this, 30x 9.50's aren't that big, but a set of 31x10.5's fill the wheel well nicely and will give you more off-road ability. Pre- 1997 31's on a 3", post 97 minor trimming of the fenders to fit 31's.

Look at the Old Man Emu suspension system. ARB markets them and they are completely top notch, but you'll pay for it as well.
