Re: 383 stroker

He will toast his rearend and his tranny eventually. What setup is he using for intake??? Are you wondering about engine specifics or just the rest of the car??

Re: 383 stroker

Just engine specifics..

Its got the factory dual air intake, with 2 K&N filters.. Underneath both filters has also all been cut out and 4" ducting is run from each filter down by the factory fog lights

Re: 383 stroker

The block will have to be clearanced for the 4" stroke crank. Also it will have to be bored .030 to reach 383ci. What all comes with his kit? Is it a rotating assembly that includes bearings and everything or what? I would have the block decked, fluxed, and line bored as well. Depending on your valvetrain you may have to have your pistons fly cut.

Re: 383 stroker

he hasnt got the kit yet, but as far as I know, its the full rotating assy. with bearings, pistons and rings..
he wasnt sure if his stock heads will work or what mods would need to be done to them

Re: 383 stroker

The heads will depend on the valve sizes and what the pistons will except. Also depends on the intake he chooses to run. Personally I would go ahead and do a carb'd swap.

Just a little FYI: head porting will cost you out the ass.

He needs to figure out eveything before he buys a rotating assembly as in what heads, cam, intake, cause no part choice when it comes to engines are independent of each other.

For a cam, I'd call up Lunati or Edelbrock and have them recommend one for you. They have a program that takes the entire car into consideration. You tell them about the engine, which trans and converter, rear end , etc. and it figures out exactly where your horsepower and torque curves should be.

351wStang was right about the block but you might want to be careful about align boring. I was going to have this done too just to make sure everything is true but it shouldn't be done unless it's needs to be done. It moves the crank slightly higher up in the block which could throw off the timing a bit.

Everything else was pretty much covered already, only thing I can think of is the oil pan might have to be modified to make room for the crank, my friend had to do that for his 350.
