Angry 2001 Cav-2.4L - CRANK

crank & 3 rods messed up

Have had just over 3 years, less than 60K kilometers, oil changed every 4-5k km's. Crank and 3 rods toast - anyone else with this kind of problem. Ran mostly highway (110km/h). Within 5 minutes of driving check engine light came on and ran rough all the way home (45 minutes). Took in to GM dealer next morning and was told must have every receipt for oil change since new or I will foot the bill for new motor.

Unhappy

Unfortunately I believe all chevys are like that. As much as I loved my corsica and Cavy.. I just don't think chevys are a car that lasts a long time unless you really, really keep them maintained. I took great care of my corsica and because of low oil ( i'd like to think it was grease monkeys fault) engine blew. and before that it would always knock. But Now that i think about it maybe thats true about all cars .After hearing your guys comments on the CAVY'S im a lil scared. I do alot of highway driving. I hope I don't have any of those problems at 50k.
