eBay Header/Intake/Exhaust

Just as a curiostity... who here has bought one of those DC style headers, AEM style intakes, or the Apexi-s exhuast? I have quite a small budget and i was wondering if those styled items or any good. Has anyone bought those type of items off ebay? or would i be better off buying the real ones? Are the generic header, intake, or exhaust any good?

Re: eBay Header/Intake/Exhaust

I got my intake off eBay, very similar to the AEM two piece cold air version, but no AEM logo on the pipe. Only thing I would say is invest in a good filter, such as K&N. As for an exhaust, can't help you there, I shelled out for the Tanabe cat-back setup. You should be able to get a good deal on a name brand exhaust on eBay, I've seen the Greddy Evo and Apexi N-1 cat-back systems going for as little as $300, just keep your eyes open.

id shell out for name brand headers cuz the cheapies will rust up fast, but the intake i bougth also ebay style, and it works fine. my exhuast is just custom mandrel bent 2-1/4" with an Apexi muffler on it.

I bought an AEM Cold Air Intake off Ebay not too long ago. It works fine, came in perfect condition, but you could definitely buy a generic tubing and just invest in the K&N and have nearly the same results. As for headers and exhausts, I wouldn't mess with no-name companies.

Yeah. You have to realize that paying $100 for a cheap header that breaks after a month and then buying a Jasma, is actually more expensive then just buying the more expensive one.

Re: eBay Header/Intake/Exhaust

Back from the dead. Anyway basically the ebay intakes are as good as any other intake system. As long as it doesnt have a resonator connected to it or super small straw looking piping then it is all G. Ebay exhaust has a problem. It will give u power and all but ur exhaust will get quite loud. The glass pack stuff in the muffler will burn off quickly and/or eventually and ur exhaust will sound like it can enter a sub show off and win. I believe my friend has one and it is ?ridiculously? loud. I mean when im behind him i cant even hear my music when he is accelerating but when driving without strain on the motor.... it is pretty quiet. As for the header... i think my same friend has one too b/c he said the previous owner bought it from ebay. Dont kno if it is but the brand says 'Focus' on the header or something like that. It still looks good other than the scratches and dents he made on the down pipe since his car is so low. By the way the header looks ceramic style... not that chrome look. Dont kno if it gave him extra power. Well lets just say with his drop, header, intake, catback, highflow cat, automatic Integra LS... he ran 16.4 in hawaii weather.
