94 Z28 vs. 86 GTStang(I was driving the Camaro!!!)

Ok so my firend owns a 94 Z28 M6, LT-4 conversion done by me for him, full exhuast, 4.10 rear gears again done by me. This is a very nice car and he kills LS1's all the time with it. Anyway he borrowed my Jeep Cherokee for the weekend cause he is moving and I took his Z28(good swap eh? ). Anyway I was cruisin back from a club Saturday night on the higway doing about 65mph(speed limit) just in my own world.

Well this 86 black GT with flowmasters positive of it! Comes up on my left. He slows down to get even with me and I look over. He looks at me and starts hitting the gas and letting off. The poor 86GT had seen better days with the black paint rather faded and some small rust holes near the wheel wells.

I knew my poor Mustang brotheren had no clue of what was gonna happen to him. So I drop it down a gear and stomped the gas, chipred the tires, and pulled on him like nothing. Then quickly got off, I did this to warn my fellow Mustang owner this was one race he was not gonna win and hope to save his pride.

The Mustang owner quickly catches up to me and looks at me again. I shake me head smiling just like this go figure? Trying to let him know I wasn't interested. He then proceeds to give em the finger and stomp on it. I quickly think about it for a second and the stomp on it again. I caught the GT at about 80mph and then continued to pull on like he was standing still till I let off the gas at 115mph-ish.

When I got home, I felt so dirty about the whole thing I had an urge to shower!

LT-4's are a VERY good match for LS-1's, similar numbers, with the TQ edge going to the LT.

Good kill. Hey, you tried to warn-off your fellow 'Stanger. Too bad he didn't listen.

Re: 94 Z28 vs. 86 GTStang(I was driving the Camaro!!!)

Lol. Well, sounds like a really fast car you done for your buddy, lol. The LT4 is a stout engine too (305 hp, not sure on tq). I actually prefer the sound of those engines to the LS1s.

I kinda felt the same way you did once (except I wasn't racing). I was just driving my friends Bullet Mustang. I floored it in 2nd gear, and when I shifted to 3rd it spun the tires (I was kinda hoping you know it wouldn't, lol, since I'm a diehard Chevrolet person).

LT1 ('96-97 SS models) made 305hp, the LT4 made 330hp.

Re: 94 Z28 vs. 86 GTStang(I was driving the Camaro!!!)

I thought the LT4 was what was in the 96-97 SS Camaros?? I know a regular LT1 made 285 hp.

So I guess the LT4 was the Corvette engine for 96 (in the Grand Sport Vette, the regular C4s just had 300 at that time).

Here's a linky showing just how good a matchup an LT-4 vs LS-1 can be. The LT-1 Trans Am is running the LT-4 cam.

Re: 94 Z28 vs. 86 GTStang(I was driving the Camaro!!!)

I'm confused now. What was in the Z28 from 93-95? 96-97? 98-02 is LS1, right?

Bah, I'm such a n00b at domestics...

93-97 Z28-T/As were LT1s (285 hp-and I'm thinking the 93 Z28-T/As may have only had 275 hp) (no SS/WS6 93-95). For 96-97, there was a 305 hp SS and WS6 (might not have been called WS6 then however-but it was a ram air T/A) Now I always thought this was a version of the LT4, but Redkneck says other wise.

98-02 all F-bodies were LS1 (regardless of whether they are Z28s or SS/WS6 packages). The Z28-T/A packages had 305 hp, while the 98-02 SS/WS6 had 320 hp (02 SS's had 325 for the 35th anneversary, not sure if the WS6's got 325 hp or not).

Ohh, I see. The WS6 is an option package, not an engine code, just like the Z28 SS.

So what car(s) was the LT4 used in then?
