Make 350 to 355
Ok, I have an old 350 out of a 78' Camaro. How would I go about making it into a 355. I was told that you just put 327 cam in. I've also heard that the only differance between a 350 and a 327 is the stroke. Could some one please clear this up for me.
Peace |

The way to go from 350 to 355 is to bore the cylinders .30 over. Changing the cam has nothing to do with the displacement. As far as the difference between a 327 and a 350 where displacement is concerned. I believe the SBC whole family up to the 400 share the same bore, so stroke is creating the different displacements. This excludes LT1/LS1's.

Re: Make 350 to 355
Small blocks mostly all have different strokes or bores. The 305 and the 350 have the same stroke but the 350 has a larger bore. The 400 has a bigger stroke and bore than the 350 but im not sure what exactly the 327 has. I think it shares the same stroke as the 350.
As far as getting 355 you just need to bore the 350 out a little bit. |
