Need Help Asap
hey, i just got offered a b18b from a 90-93 integra, for $700. I was thinking about buying this and putting it into my 95 dx civic. I probably wouldn't put the cylinder head in, i'd want a gsr or type r head. What i want to know is what year of heads will fit on the b18b 90-93 block? I really need to know asap, because there are a few people thknin about getting this engine.
cheers mike ps-i'd like to run nitrous on this, so what is the best thing to do to this engine? thanks

Re: Need Help Asap
You'll probably be able to put a B17 GSR head. If you can find it.

Well my friend has a b16 head in it and its pretty damn quick. Its the cheapest one u can get also. 700 is pretty good price. You can use any tranny...well i think ur car is hydro so u might wanna pick up a hydro tranny from a gsr or any b-series tranny that has hydro. As for the swap, you'll need b-series mounts from either HAsport, place racing, or HCP mounts with shift linkages. I believe u need integra axles also. Please correct me if theres anything missing . I think thats all you need ...oh and u need an ecu to match your v-tec head.

B-series trannies goes anywhere from 350-800. Its not hard to find at all. Go to www.thepartstrader.com You'll find plenty there.

i wouldnt boost or squeeze on such a fragile setup. LS/VTEC can make power, but it doesnt stay in one piece for too long.

what is needed to build this ls/vtec to be a reliable, powerful machine? The engine is going to sit until i have all the parts, so i'm going to rework a lot of it. Unfortuanately i odn't know what ot rework or rebuild or replace. I really appreciate the help, and please keep it coming, i need to decide whether or not i want ot buy this engine by tonight....

You need to destroke it and get the R/S ratio right. A very expensive procedure.

I don't know about lasting a long time but 200hp is possible. Just need to get some stout internals and don't over rev it and pray.

well, let's say i just swap a b16a3 head on, and then go intake header and exhaust, it won't be close to 200hp, but will there still be the need for the destroking? I really want to get this swap done, but that seems like it's going to be getting too expensive... how much is this destroking usually? and wat do you mean by stout parts? thanks a lot rr

oh, and by the way, this is just going to be a daily driver/street racing car, it's not going to go to the track or anything like that.
thanks -mike

Naa, for those kinds of mods, you won't need anything extra. Just reduce the rev limiter to about 7000-7500 and it should be fine.
As for stout components, I mean upgraded rods so they'll have less of a chance that they'll split in half and poke out thru your engine block. |
