How To- Convertable
Materials needed
-dremel with cutoff wheel (or equivalent) -masking tape -diecast -sharpie marker (optional) -dremel sanding bands (optional, not shown) ![]() remove the windows. mark off your cuts ![]() to know where to mark off your cuts, for the A pillar (the one that is next to the front windshield) i look to see where the A pillar and the roof meet. you will see the bend, that is where i cut so put a piece of tape there. for the other pillars look to see where they meet the body and mark there. you have the option of using a sharpie, making a line along the tape, and then removing the tape, i just leave the tape there. here is where my cuts are going to be (in yellow) ![]() go slow and steady along your mark, the first initial touch to the metal on each part that you are cutting is very crucial, make sure you hit your mark otherwise you will have to do some cleaning up after you cut. cut all of the pillars here is the top cut off ![]() notice the metal sticking out (circled in yellow) ![]() this is where you want to smooth out the metal to make it flush (even) with the metal surrounding it. check your A pillar cuts, you can round them out a little so they arent sharp. smooth out your cut along the roof. check all your cuts and make sure they line up with the rest of the body and are straight. see pic to know where to look to smooth things out ![]() this is where you can use the sanding bands, it makes it easier to smooth. if you decide to use the cutoff wheel to smooth it, it can be done. it does take skill to get them flush, but it is possible. if you are not sure of you skills, or are not used to working with cutoff wheels, use sanding bands. all smoothed out ![]() from here you have a few options. Option 1- you can primer then paint it Option 2- you can wait for me to make a tutorial on how to simulate a soft top roof that is down Option 3- you can do this on your own and make a tutorial incase you didnt know what i was talking about. it is the black area behind the rear seats ![]() my finished project as of now ![]()
