92 Lumina euro stalls when slowing
My Lumina stalls when braking to come to a stop. Headlights and everything dies and all of the dash lights come on right before it dies, like its going haywire because its losing power. It starts right up and doesnt seem to have a problem until it wonts to act up again.
I have people look at it, and they cant find the problem, they say the car runs really well. But after a while the problem happens again. I replaced the battery, the alternator was supposed to be good and the battery connections were tested No one seems to know why it quits running Please help |

Re: 92 Lumina euro stalls when slowing
as you said, we have the same problem.
im having my car looked at by my cousin tomorrow and i guess - it might be some sort of fuel problem. ive had multiple people say that its a fuel problem and to check the fuel filter. that should cost around four dollars and im seriously hoping thats it. if not than its the fuel pump itself. its got to be something simple because my car has always ran very well. the only stuff ive had to do to it was get the regular oil and "14 point" tests and i do that on time. the odd thing is, i just got my oil checked like three weeks ago. i would think that if they noticed the fuel filter was close to bad that they would have told me so they could have made thirty bucks. ill let you know. these forums have scared me to death because apparently this type of car is famous for expensive problems. i just got finished paying my tuition deposit so i cant afford to spend money. |

See the other post
Which engine do you have? The dash lights, check engine, oil and temp light should come on when the car dies. They are receiving no signal to shut them off when the engine dies, and the headlights may dim somewhat also all normal. The 3.4L is famous for expensive problems, only because it is more difficult to work on. I know I have one. |

Re: 92 Lumina euro stalls when slowing
that is a common problem with those cars the best way to fix this is to go to a local parts store and pick up some valve grind compound and put some in your crankcase this will help it run alot longer

I have a 3.1L engine
Does anyone think it could be a bad ignition module? |

Check your spark plug wires. i just got a 93 chevy lumina and after spraying down the engine with engine cleaner at the car wash. i had trouble with it stalling and even getting it started. changed the spark plug wire and it fired up without a problem.
