In the R33 the arctic blues lasted a couple of months in the low beam lights. The high beams are still going ok. I replaced the low beams with +30 which work well. Now I know the +50 is here I'll go and get a set of those as well.

Zapf as well as me has had trouble with the blues lasting. Arithon's blue bulbs are still going strong so it might have been a crook batch me and Zapf had (though it's not much fun paying for the bulbs and they are a prick to put in)

Hi all,
.....just pokin' me nose in here...

H1 standard bulbs: 12v 55w halogen....standard fit, last ages, light stuff up a bit.....
H1 blue bulbs: 12v 55w halogen....ion coating on glass allows more of the blue and less of the yellow spectrum past.......good at night for highlighting signs/markings/obstacles........never last as long as normal bulbs.....sell loads 'cos people like the effect....
H1 Xenon bulbs: 12v 55w xenon.....standard bulb but filled with Xenon gas not Halogen....filament burns 30% brighter with no extra load on the wiring.....
H1 80w: bigger filament, brighter light, larger strain on the vehicle wiring loom and fuses....more heat generated in the lamp unit....not road legal over here....
H1 100w: huge filament, instant daylight, melted wires, blown fuses....intercooler recommended on light units.....attracts police like moths round a candle....

.....all have their benefits and drawbacks.....you pays your money,, you takes your choice.......
(I like the blue....you get used to changing them....)

take care,

Jon.

PEACE, LOVE AND HORSEPOWER....

What about the Hella Bright White ones or whatever they are called?
Are you just gong to the blue Narva ones for appearances only or functionality?

Wink

I think they were next to the Narva blue bulbs at Repco(I saw them in Auckland and got them when I returned home).

I assume they are a normally stocked item at Repco. I'm sorry, I can't remember any other details about them as they were fitted during a service.
