Wink Exhaust Sound?

What makes your exhaust sound like it does? is it just mufflers, and I think i know your engine has alot to do with it, but i'm sure some of you can explain better.

Well there are many factors in the sound of exhaust. The main factor being mufflers of course. Others can include engine combo, how lopey of a cam, headers, pipe diameter and exaust tips.

Re: Exhaust Sound?

Catalytic converters or no catalytic converters makes a big difference. I recommend no cats. If you don't mind not being legal

Everything can change your exhuast sound from engine size, firing order cam, CR to headers, size of tubing, mufflers etc.., It all has an effect.

Then how do you get an inspection sticker?
I want to go catless, but, I drive my car everyday.

1) buy a fake one

2) put it on when you go to get it inspected, take it off afterwards.

Re: Exhaust Sound?

rerun hit the nail on the head. You could also "hollow out" your catalytic converters and take a chance on passing emissions. I know a few guys who have done that.

Re: Exhaust Sound?

I couldn't believe it the other day in the fuel additive section of the parts store there was an additive that "garentee" to "help" pass smog test. If you think about it how could that be legal. Not that im complaining just got me thinkin.

Re: Exhaust Sound?

I just swap H-pipes every year before inspection, from o/r h to the stock cat pipe. I also run a couple bottles of dry gas in an almost empty tank. Dry gas burns with no emissions, but can be bad for the seals of the motor if run too long by itself (empty tank).
