Question 10 second 4th Gen Prelude Is it even Possible?

we are looking to build a 4th gen prelude that runs in the 10s but has the agility of a leopard on a slalom course and comes on strong at low and medium rpms without hesitation of turbo lag with blowaway speed on the straightaways. Does anyone know or can provide us with some advice/ideas of building a street driveable driver? ps without having to remove all metal body parts, completely gutting the interior and limit to a single seat? Is it even possible?

Yes, but you'll have a hard time doing it without a turbo. A very hard time...

I understand. But what and how can we eliminate the turbo lag found in most if not all turbo induced engines? Our DSMs have lag at bottom and medium rpms that is why I built the 1993 lude as an na engine. do you have members or friends/associates out there who have built this type of combination performing 4th gen Prelude with fairly stock curb weight? If they have a turbo induced H22a how is it performing through the rpms ranges?

Re: 10 second 4th Gen Prelude Is it even Possible?

you would definitely need a very strong block. and the very, very best internals. a lot of tuning and dynos. very well tuned air/fuel management. and if you don't want to remove all body panels, but perhaps some, a carbon fiber hood/trunk combo. ditch the spoiler. ditch the ac. all new pulleys, cams, lifters. very good i/h/e. perhaps even a tunable ehuast. lighter wheels. ditch the spare and jack.

i dunno how much you wanna dump into it, but boring/punching the block, maybe up 100. that would give you about 300 more cc's and a wicked bottom end, with more torque. maybe make up for the turbo lag.

and if you put a wet no2 system on, it wouldn't hurt, if done correctly (if that's your thing. i hate no2)

good luck, keep us informed

p.s. timeslips

Re: 10 second 4th Gen Prelude Is it even Possible?

Thanks dbebesi. I would prefer to stay away from no2 but am open to turbo. Familiar with building a strong bottom and top end long block since we built a 1993 H22A with some beefy internals and head. However, this block was built for NA. Our second 4th gen prelude we really want to buildup and run Turbo since it appears next to impossible to run that much hp and torque in a na engine. That is why we are looking for advice on what others have done in the past. we are pretty good with suspension systems but are novices when it comes to building and tuning an H22A with a turbo. Really would like to hear how and what others have done to an H22A to get her to run 10 second time plus have acceleration and power within the lower end and mid rpm range. This car will be built for handling but we want the power and acceleration of a 10 second car. Yes we are open to cf hood, but we will be building up the brake system which has added weight over stock, plus we would like to keep the interior intact.

Thank you again for your input.
