I feel the need for speed

Hey guys,
I don't know much about cars, but i havea 2.4 litler 4cyl tacoma, that I got about 10 months ago for my birthday and it's not as quick as I would like it to be.

I was wondering what upgrades you recommend I want to beable to beat my buddies 1996 silverado v-8. I don't know if its possible but I have money, so tell me what to get and how much it will cost approx.

Thanks,
Brian

Add turbo to that baby. thats what i did, does yours have a
tachometer? if not you might want to get one!!! i have one
with the 2.7 dual overhead cam w/turbo 217 ponies on the
dyno, also for a cool sound, add borla exhaust,
