New to these forums yes. But I have a serious question and would like everyones imput before I do anything drastic
![]() Well, to start it off I just turned 18 so I can actually upgrade my car the way I want without parental interference. As you may have noticed I have a 91' Mustang LX that is 2.3 Liters NON-Turbo. I have heard some models that have the turbo for this model and am wondering if anyone could guide me to where I could find a stock turbo no longer in use. I ve searched the net and have not been able to locate one. Also, I need a clutch cable. Anyone guide me to that area? I could go to a FORD dealership of course but dont want to spend 200 bucks on a 100 dollar part if you know what I mean. If all else fails with the idea of a turbo, I maybe go with a lighter car in the ford family and finance an SVT Focus. I appreciate your help ![]() Thanks |

a stock 2.3 n/a block and bottom end won't take the pressure of a turbo, sadly enough. you'd have to rip the motor out and apart and rebuild it to take the heat. that's big dollars. then again, so is an SVT focus. if i were you i would find a junked 84-86 SVO (good luck...) or an older t-bird turbo coupe. yank the motor and stick it in your stang. this will require siginificant wiring modifications depending on the fuel delivery system.
just remember one thing: when you're modifying a car, IT'S ALWAYS MORE WORK THAN IT INITIALLY SEEMS!!!!! i cannot stress this fact enough.
