95' Camaro
Hello
This is my first time visiting the Chevy forum and I was wondering: I'm looking (in the newspaper) at a 95' Camaro 3.4L V-6 AT and the guy wants $3000 (or best offer). My question is what should I listen/check for to make sure the car is worth the price? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

so you're going from a supra to a V6 camaro and the 3.4 at that
.... i gotta tell ya you're gonna be mighty disappointed. A z28, now thats a car but the 3.4, well....... anyway to your question as to what you should look for when inspecting the car. 1.inspect the chassis, it would be best if you could hoist the car up to inspect the chassis form underneath to see if its ever been in any really bad accidents and has just been repaired and the owner isn't telling you about it. I almost bought a killer looking mustang not knowing this turned out it was in a baaaad accident and the chassis was slightly twisted and bent.2.check the vin numbers on the engine and car frame (i think) to make sure they match and that it has the original engine. If its got a new engine then the owner has probably abused the crap outta his car. 3. allround cleanliness is generally a good way to see whether a car has been taken care of or not. just by looking at the condition of the body, interior and engine bay you should be able to see what kind of treatment its owner has given it. 4.ask the owner if hes had any major problems with it and what he's done with it. his honesty however can't be assured. 5. test drive it and give it some gas, see how it handles. 6. check the condition of the tires and brakes, if they're in bad condition you might need to replace them which can cost quite a bit. 7. I think you guys have this thing in the U.S. called carfax or something like that where you can check up on the cars history....... do this to rest assured you're not buying a lemon. sorry for the long list. this is all i can think of right now anyway, i'm sure theres more that aren't coming to mind. good luck, oh and get a V8 if you can afford it

Re: 95' Camaro
well, camaros so long as they have been taken care of are extreamly rugged and reliable. check the oil to see if its sludgy, or if its clean, smell the trans fluid, it dosnt smell good to begin with, but if its buned you will know it, thats a clue as to the transmition condition. look it over for obvious signs of shade tree mechanic work, zip ties and loose wires anywhere, check the intake for leaks, look at the tires for signs of agressive driving, start it up, listen for any knocking sounds or such, should run smooth, check mileage, the basics, then take it for a drive, no radio, windows up, over rough roads to listen for any clunking from the suspention or body. i wouldnt pay any attention to interior squeeks the camaros are very well known for them, took me an entire three day weekend to completely gut my interior and track down and fix by hand every point of squeek or vibration. lots of personal work invovled. but worth it. for my two cents so long as teh car is in good shape, 3k is a great price for it.

i was just messin but hey don't try and honestly tell me that you wouldn't rather have a V8 instead of the V6 if you could afford it. My last car was a V6 and i always kept planning on installing a V8 and wishing i had one. of course when you finally do get v8 power you want more and more and it just never stops

Re: 95' Camaro
my 5.7L TPI got me an average 23mpg and a high of 26mpg with crossed plug wires, a bad O2 sensor, dirty air filters, driving at 70+mph, and in desperate need of an induction service and tuneup. havent done any driving sense i fixed all that, but its probly higher now
