I was thinking of swapping my h23 for a h22a. Just wondering how easy it is of a swap. Im guessing i can use the same motor mounts but obviosly the wiring gonna be different considering its a engine from a prelude in japan. If anyones done this swap can you tell me how you did it and how the car turned out. I have no experience with engine swaps but i would like to try one.
thanks for any input.. |

Re: Thinking of doing a h22 swap
i thought USDM and JDM engines were the same other than different HP/Torque output.

Re: Thinking of doing a h22 swap
Don't do it.. it's NOT WORTH IT, the amount of hp gained is no good when cornering, because the added weight of the engine (a few hundred lbs) will throw the balance of your car WAY OFF. if you're looking for a good n/a engine, go for the jdm b18c, or the type R b18c. less hp, but the swap will take way less time and cause a LOT less headaches... i know a guy that swapped an h22a into his integra.. the swap took him 3 months and ended up costing him near triple his first estimate. the ONLY situation i would even try swapping an H series engine into an integra is if you were drag racing ONLY.
it's not worth it.

Re: Thinking of doing a h22 swap
All you'll have to do is use the ECU of the H22 and wire up vtec; since you already have an h23 in there. You'll be able to use the same shift linkage, mounts, axles, etc. Other than the hastle of wiring the rest should be pretty straight forward.
What car is this being swapped into? What mounts do you have in there? My buddy swapped one into his 95 Civic 4dr it turned out pretty good. He ran into some suspension and axle problems but you already have an H-series motor in there so it shouldn't be a problem for you. Here's some picks of his car: http://members.cardomain.com/hybridcivich22a |
