Re: buying a zr2
Where would you like to start?I bought a 98 ZR2 with 100,000 on it.At the time I got a good deal.Then it started...................hell................From the top,waterpump(within the first week),intake gasket(check for this on the 4.3),ball joints(all),front wheel bearings,rear calipers&brakes,engine(not even 3 payments into it),steering stabilizer,exhaust,door pins&bushings(driver side),tailgate cables,front brakes,and a water leak in the cab(which I found).That names a FEW problems I had.That's a good start to look for in a S-10.

Re: buying a zr2
looks like u just got a severly ragged out zr2, cuz all of the ones i have ever seen that havent been like totally abused, and even the few that i know of that have seen alot of time in the woods are still good trucks, they run good, they go good, they look good, and generally dont ahve any major issues

I bought a used 2000 Zr2 and it is great. The only problem i've got is that the fuel pump keeps going and the door pins are bad.

Re: buying a zr2
always take a new vehicle to an ASE cert mech for a total inspection before you buy it, i wouldnt buy a Zr2 if it was older than 2001 they worked most of the kinks out by then, dont be surprised if it runs hotter than most engines around 210, the 4.3 its duable and is hard to kill, but i wouldnt buy it if it runs hotter than 225 and make sure you have the transmition fluid valve examined they are known for problems later in life
