01-04 civic header help!!!!

I am in a real mess right now-i installed an invidia full cat and it vibrates alot especially when you hit high RPMs making a loud sound when the pipe hits the sheet metal under the car- i was wondering if maybe i moved my header - anyone with an 01-04 civic can check for me to see if the header is straight or slightly to the left when you look at it when you lift your hood- mine is slightly to the left very noticible- is everyones like this or is it perfectly straight pipe running down- thank you very much

Re: 01-04 civic header help!!!!

mines goes a little to the side also but doesnt hit the sheet metal..you might have maybe shifteed the head while screwing it in or perhaps did you put all the hooks on corretly with the rubber on it.. mines doesnt do anything..

Re: 01-04 civic header help!!!!

nice man makes me feel better knowing i didnt shift it..the head pipe is shifted to the left..the cat pipe from the new exaust hits the sheet metal under the car..its from the new pipe being so much bigger then stock i assume...any suggestions to make it stop vibrating on the sheet metal i wrapped it with header wrap bu it still vibrates????

Re: 01-04 civic header help!!!!

i asked one of my friends and he said that if its a 2 piece header..then add a spacer between the 2 before the downpipe.. i dont see why its vibrating so much though.. mines is fine.. hmm.. just got of the phone with the shop i go to.. he said that when you install the headers on 01+ civics its possible (depending on the brand) that it can shift as much as .25 of an inch.. he said it just depends and stuff but he said to try loosen up the header screws... then while pushing down hard on the headers screw it back in... maybe this might budge it down just a little to a point where it wont hit the sheet metal.. now if you want to be like my cousin mr. american fix-it.. he would probably say something stupid as. get a hammer and pound the sheet metal in a bit where it hits... haha.. hey did all the hooks with the rubber thing attached that connects to the under car piping of the exhaust stock go back in with the new exhaust???

Re: 01-04 civic header help!!!!

yea man the stock brackets and bushings fit the new exhaust perfect, i was thinking of bringing it to mineke and having them install another bracket/bushing that will the pull the pipe away from the side where it hits the sheet metal thats the best idea we could come up with here/// but ur brother might have a good idea haha

Re: 01-04 civic header help!!!!

u know what...just talked to someone about that..they said your engine is putting out more pwer now then it was so that means more engine vibration... he said that he found that some 01+ civic needs to change the motor mounts to handle the extra vibration... so good sturdy ones... or something like that... ones that can handle.. FYI
