Re: will a motor from a 94 park ave fit in a 96 park ave?

When I was in tech school I was told how to fix cars with the K.I.S.S plan. Keep it simple stupid. This is not meant to be offensive but to show you that keeping it simple will make the job work and right. I would always recommend replacing the engine with the same year and same engine to avoid more work and grief. I am not saying it can't be done but it will make it go easier. Computers in these cars change yearly so does the sensors and connectors. Jumping up 2 years is a gamble on everything fitting and working right. If you study both engines closely see what the differences are and go from there.

putting a 94 engine in a 96 car is a downgrade. The 94's is rated at ~176hp, the 96's is rated at ~200

Re: will a motor from a 94 park ave fit in a 96 park ave?

yes i understand it may be a downgrade motor wise but i have a 94 with 40,000 grandfather driven miles as compared to my 96 with 146,000 miles and the second reason why would be "FREE" and also horsepower wise it is a park avenue not a grand national so im not worried about winning any races thanks for the help though

Re: will a motor from a 94 park ave fit in a 96 park ave?

I know it would fit but as someone else stated, there might be a difference in the ssensors. The 94 being OBD1 and the 96 being an OBD2.

With that said, I would carefully change any sensors from the 96 to the 94 motor aas well as anything else that looked different (maybe the coil pack)

I bet the difference in hp is a programming change in the computer. Does anyone have the spec on the cams and compression ratio of the two motors. They are probably the same which would mean the only difference is the computer settings which will stay the same.
