Re: Alternator belt trouble 1998 taurus
you have to pull back on the spring loaded tensioner this will release the tension on the belt so you can slip it off

Curious
Where is the spring loaded tensioner located. I can not find anything that looks spring loaded, everything i see is bolted to the block.

Re: Alternator belt trouble 1998 taurus
it is an idler pulley which holds tension on the belt you need to pull on it using a socket or belt tensioner tool...I think you need a repair manual....I do not know or wish to offend you but be sure your not in over your head on this project
