Hello:

I have a 98 yukon SLT 4x4 and am looking to modify it. I want to add true dual heads and dual flowmasters. I also want to all a jacobs electronics prostreet ignition system. Eventually I want to put a lift and new tires to complete the modifications. Right now i have a nice kenwood face with 2 rockford 12"subs. Anyone who has done similar to their yukon, please respond and tell how you like it, benefits like gas mileage and anything else. Thank you

when you said true dual heads, did you mean true dual headers? flowmasters are nice. i don't have a setup like that. but i have heard flowmasters and they make a sweet sound to the ears.

I have a Flowmaster 50 series SUV "non-delta series" 2 into 1 muffler right now and i love it to death, i described the tone i wanted to a local race shop and that is what they suggested, and man was it perfect. if you wanted to make it true duals all you would need to do is either buy one 2 into 2 muffler and add a tail pipe, or buy two seperate single in or single out mufflers with an extra tail pipe. this week i am adding a set of gibson headers and a hypertech 160 thermo. if you want i can post a something of what i think of the headers.

why would you put exhaust and headers on a yukon...defeats the whole purpose.
A yukon is supposed to be nice, smooth, fast, NOT loud.
Think again before putting this on a yukon.

Hello all. Magnaflow is the way to go for <= 99 Tahoes, yukons, burbs etc.
This is for the best possible performance and low sound levels. I have done my research on this matter and if you ask anybody who knows anything about our rides, they'll tell you that the best setup for the Hoe is a 3 inch in and out. Single, not dual outlet. This is because the velocity of the exhaust is extremely lessened when there is a dual outlet, the noise is increased unwantedly inside, and there is less torque during street driving. Sure you're top speed will better off with the dual, but as anyone who knows there shit will tell you, "too much get's out."


I have tried, Flowmaster, Dynomax, magnaflow, no name turbo muffler, and tested them all. Call magnaflow and they'll give you their direct replacement catback which used to retail for 379. It has the ultimate sound outside, with very little interior resonance. They'll tell you the same thing. They recommend the singles, but if you have to have duals, then they recommend 2.25s for the outlets. Make sure you hide that wussy piping if you're going to get duals.

I have a yukon 2000. I have tried Elderbrock dual in single out. The sound is a low growl which is nice to hear but just like people have the need for speed I have the need for noise. So I swaped out the elderbrock for a custom bend 3' pipe with flowmaster muffs. The sound is amazing. You can go the webpage of elderbrock to hear there products not sure about flowmaster though. Amyways my theory on aftermarket exhaust systems are that lets say you have an aftermarket intake system, that intake is taking in more air. Now with the stock exhaust, that extra air will not come out evenly. I care less if anyone would disagree with that because we actually dynoed my car with an intake but stock exhaust. After running fine for a few minutes when the engine starting heating up and taking more air at higher rpm, the car starting losing power giving it a lagging feeling when accelerating. And on hot days the lag got so bad I wouldn;t even turn the ac on because that made it worse. So once I got aftermarket exhaust everything worked fine and even better. So basically it depends on what you want, sound performance and appearance. But my opinion would be flowmaster, borla or elderbrock. If you decide to go custrom be perpared to break open a piggy bank.
