Okay, I blew my B20A5 in my 88 'lude. Now i need a replacement engine. I called www.nagoyavtech.com they said they have a B20 fuel-injected for about $600 canadian. Now i'm thinking about putting in a better engine. I was told that the H22, H23, and F22 engines will fit. Do i have to change the ECU? How? What kind of things do i have to watch out for? Will the increase in power rip my CV joints apart?

Re: '88 prelude engine: how do you swap???
Those engines (h22, h23, f22) were made for the 4th gen, and one on the 5th. They may fit, but I doubt it'll be an easy drop in swap. You would have to change your ecu if you do, just buy a new one and plug it in.

Re: '88 prelude engine: how do you swap???
I think I've heard people talk about putting B16s and/or B18s in their 3rd gens because they fit better. I can't be of any more help than that, but it's something to look into.

You can swap in the h23 and h22 these are the only swaps I've heard of being successfull in these cars, you might check www.preludepower.com it has some good info on these swaps, I know for a fact that no one has or attempted the b16,18 engines for lack of touque reasons. The other popular option it the b20a5 turboed.
