240sx

Would it be a violation of the rules if I mention I will be selling one on Ebay, and provide a picture and link??

This is my first post, and this whole forum is one of the greatest Web-Sites I've ever found. Yeah !!!!
My used car business is very new, and is located near Cleveland Ohio, close to Hopkins Airport. I hope I'm not sounding like a total spammer.

Read the rules, and you'll find out if it's a violation or not. Regardless of what the rules say however, personal advertising as a newbie let alone very first post is probably not the best way to get any respect.

I don't think posting a link to your car on ebay is wrong. people do it all the time on here

is it a personal link or one for your used car business??

i'm not totally sure about this one...

spam can be seen as posting threads for personal gain for a business or other...

it also depends on the number of posts. if someone is selling something and only mentions it in one thread in one forum, then that's not spam. however, if they go around putting the same thread in every forum on here, then that is considered spam.

i think you'll be ok if you keep it to one thread in here.

Cool

Thanks -J SPEC SilEighty,

I am a total and complete Newbie ! Hey , I will do my best to be a contributing member of this community. I am pretty old to be just getting into cars , but I LOVE it!!
I am getting my dealers' license soon , and I've invested about $4800 just in the physical car lot. My business partner and I buy cars at a dealers auction and we sell them through Ebay , or the local newspaper " The Cleveland Plain Dealer". Both avenues are quite expensive.
Ebay costs $40 to enter the ad, and $40 more when the deal closes. To make it look good , you can pay $10 for a nice pre-set ad.
A classified ad in my newspaper is also quite expensive, I ran one that was not many words , and it cost $51. These costs definitely add up.
Anyway , I feel like Bill Gates of the Used Car Business. I am TAKING OVER THE PLANET !! Haha.
Talk to you all later.....

People follow rules on here? It must just be select rules that are enforced on here because the absolute offensive language used in this forum is completely out of control. And that is not just by its members, however, the mod's also violate this particular one. And while reading the through the board policies I happened to noticed vulgar and offensive language would be deleted at once. LOL Yeah, ok. If you are going to enforce one rule, how can you not enforce all the rules?

Sorry, I know that was quite off topic of advertising a car on here, however, it all applies when it comes to the policies and rules of these forums. If you enforce one, enforce them all. Apologize for the rant.

"Offensive" and "vulgar" are subjective terms. If the mod doesn't feel that it should be enforced, then that's the way it is. Brian does a fine job.

NC - i believe freedom of speech comes into play here.

if you'd bothered to look anywhere but this section of AF, you'd notice that every single moderator on here - even the guy who started the site - uses profanity.

the key is: we never use it in direct attack of another member, and nor shall you. flaming is a bannable offence. this is the only instance in which "profane" language is a punishable offence. it is mainly used by people on here to get their point across. and that's that. if they so choose to use that language, they have every right to. if you don't like it, then you have the right to as well, but you have no right to go around telling them to stop it. it's a free world, and a free message board. as long as they are not using the language in direct attack of another member, they are free to use it as they wish.

lol

brian is right, sometimes it is necessary to use profainity to get your point across... it emphasizes something

like as in if i say, i hate you.....or, i FUCKING hate you....

see? which one is MORE BETTER??

if u dont liek it, just ignore it somehow....not liek they randomly cuss or anything....
but it would be funny if we had some soret of contest of who uses the most profainity.....hmm..fuck

I FUCKING HATE you is more better! Now that definitely gets the point across. I certainly see the point in adding emphasis to that! I wasn't beating on Brian. From my short time here I think Brian does a pretty good fucking job! There, "fucking job" even emphasises even more the fact that I think Brian does a pretty job! hehe

Cool sold

Boy this car sold itself. It sold so fast there wasn't anytime to take a picture. It was listed on Auto Trader for $1900. (1990 240sx , 105k miles).
There were SO many calls it was unbelievable. It sold the first day Auto Trader came out that week.
We ended up selling it for $1600 because we had no idea how much demand there was.
Next time I will have pictures. And maybe someone near Cleveland Ohio who participates in this forum can buy it.
Thanks for all the replies , you guys are all cool here.
By the way this car business is pretty rocky , great one moment the next everything goes wrong. Unbelievable !!
Good Luck , Bad Luck .......
See you all soon I hope.
