Hey everyone,
Last summer some idiot backed his truck into my 87 Acura.. and his trailer hook punched thru my condensor and rad. I replaced those two. But now I got some problems on my hand. I have no idea what's causing the prob, as the ECU doesn't show any blinkies. But here are the symptoms. 1. As the car warms up after the cold start, the rev should naturely fall from about 2000 down to about 650. But mine, as it falls, it starts to oscalate. like between 1500~1800, then gradually step down. This lasts for a long time, even when the coolant temp meter registers the coolant to be above-normal hot. Then, the problems mysteriously disapper. 2. Sometimes, the idle rev gets stuck at around 1200~1500rpm, and refuses to come down. Again, the coolant meter shows a quite warm engine. Then, the problems mysteriously disapper. 3. Sometimes, the car would warm up normally, drive normally. After about 10 minutes, however, the air in heater would suddenly become cold, the idle rev would go up to about 1500, and the coolant temp would show temp close to boil off. 4. The fan doesn't come on until the meter shows the temperature close to boiling off. Could someone please shed some light into my problem? |

Re: weird coolant/idle problem
i would check the coolant levels, alot of people wiht the same symptoms are low on coolant, that should be why they air gets cold, because there is a lack of coolant

Re: weird coolant/idle problem
No, that's not hte problem. The coolant is full, or close to full.

Re: weird coolant/idle problem
Well, is your thermostat functioning properly? Also, were the replacement parts factory or aftermarket? Did you try resetting the ECU to see if that fixed the problem?
