best RWD for drag and street

I've come to the conclusion I want a RWD but don't know which one.
don't like mustangs. I pretty much like all other RWd cars I can think of.
I'd like to pick one up for 2-3K. aftermarket is a +. I'm wanting 10's or 11's It would be a long term project.

oh and I like stick shifts.

Whatever you get for two to three thousand dollars, will most likely be a mid-15 second car. Regardless of make and model, that's probably be the fastest you'll get it... cause it will most likely be driven to hell and back and sold to some sucker for two to three thousand...

Then you want it to be a low 11 to high 10 second car... Got about ten to twelve grand? That's what it's going to take to get whatever it is into that speed range.

She most likely will not be streetable once it's that extreme. I know people say they drive cars that go that fast daily, but the comfort factor of a car that's been tuned that much is way low.

Your best bet is to get like a '88-93 Mustang Fox body Mustang LX Coupe. They're light as feather for a V8 - RWD car. Build up a 347ci stroker with Nitrous, put some fast slicks on it. And Bam, easy 11s. This combo could still be considered streetable, just depends on how much nitrous you use. Probably take $10,000 to build, gotta figure in building the motor, rebuilding the transmission, setting the car up with drag suspension, and a stronger rearend. It add's up real quick.

Or get a '91-'94 Nissan 240sx Coupe, once again it's a bit lighter than the fastback model just like the Mustang. I personally, would just build up the KA motor. Why? It's got a Iron block, and comes stock with fairly low compression. Just rebuild the motor so it can take lots of boost, then slap a turbo kit and a front mount intercooler. And slicks, Bam you could get into the low 12's fairly easily if you know what you're doing... to go faster won't be much harder. This car would probably cost around $8,000-$10,000 to build. I can assume the turbo kit w/ Intercooler will set you back around $3,000-$4000k depending on what size turbo and intercooler.

I'm not an expert at either car... but what I do know is that shit cost money to go fast... alot of money. Unless you know somebody who can get you parts for cheap it'll cost alot.

I hate cars. They cost too much.

um I paid $1000 for my car bought a $300 chip and am pulling mid-high 14's with a bad auto trans.

I meant 2-3K to get the car in stock form not already that fast. just have a motor that can be build to go that fast.
around here a mustang is a domestic civic everyone has one.
turbo+a 150 shot is what I'm going for engine wise. 3-4k for a kit baaah!
I would never buy a kit. my dad has a mig welder and is a ex welder along with two of my uncles. I'd fab everything. I know a something named ebay that gets me cheap parts I have read alot about engines and turbos and am fairly certain I could get that fast(with a v8)

I'm leaning towards a 3rd gen camaro with a TPI 350block destroked to a 302 with twin turbos. desktop dyno puts that setup at around 500hp at 15psi. add a 150 shot and boost the boost with race gas and you have a killer engine. I know there is more to a fast car than a powerful engine but I'll get to that part when the engine breaks it.

thanks for your input

That's another thing I thought of bringing up, if you fabricated everything yourself and bought things from Ebay. You could obviously cut the costs down incredibly.

If you've got the means to do it... why are you asking us?

Go do it already.

Man if you want a hella fast car get an RX-7 3rd generation. Throw out the 13B engine. Buy a 20b engine and triple sequential turbo the beast. That will give you about 550 hp. Itll be light as hell and give ya a lil under 10 if ya do it right.

1: a FD3S ( RX-7 ) is goin to atleast 10K for a beat up one.
2: its hard to find a 20B motor.
3: the total cost already far exceeds his budget.

Re: best RWD for drag and street

well you could find a fd rx7 that blew its apex seal for cheap and easy, finding the 20b cosmo will take some work but well worth it. I got to hear one at a local car show and dear god was it beastly.
