idle air control valve?

hi guys, got a question for ya. Just recently bought my truck, and it got a little colder out since then, and now it seems that when i'm idleing, like braking for a stop light, it seems as though the truck dies a bit on me, meaning i see the rpms dip for a second, the alternator needle goes with it, and then they both come back up....like a surge. Now, i used to have a 92 escort that did the same thing, i replaced the idle air control valve (IAC Valve) on top of the head and it ran great after that. I'm THINKING that this should be the same problem. I've checked the battery, and alternator, both good, truck runs great while in motion, doesnt have a problem starting or anything. i'm pretty much 85-90 percent sure that its the iac because of just how much it resembles the escort problem. anyone think of anything else?

p.s. 94 s10 4x4, 4.3 vortec, 111k
