power antenna
What should I use for lube ....My antenna is sticking in the freezing temps here in NH. I had to pull it up cuz it got stuck. I don't want it to break.
What about that lock de-icer/lubricant spray for frozen locks? lol. Or should I WD-40 it and then lithium grease it? |

You aren't kidding about freezing temps in NH. On the bright side you made the national news on something other than the primaries...
I had pretty good luck with Slick 50 One-lube. It's about the consistency of a heavy mineral oil or something (supposed to have teflon in it too I guess). I still had occasional troubles even after, but there was a decided improvement. What finally solved my problem for good (well, the last month with no trouble) was a new alternator and battery. It seems that my antenna was really touchy to lower voltages. |

BRRRRR -9 lastniteWell I'm pretty sure its not a voltage thing! The other day it was in the 30's and I knew it was gonna get real cold in the next few days so I went to the wash, and rinsed off the salt. Well I'll be damned if the temp didn't drop like 30 degree's in the next few hours and my antenna was froze so I whacked it once lol and then I helped it up thru opening. Since, I've had to help it a couple times. Think I just need to get rid of the moisture and get it lubed. Thanks guys |

Re: Re: power antenna
Yea jj when I fired mine up this morning to go to work the temp said -4 . So far I've been lucky with the antenna it hasn't stuck (neither has the doors for that matter) After you spray it wipe it off then do it a few more times you won't believe the crap that comes off it .

Power antenna lube
I am in Massachusetts and have been sharing the freeze.
I use Molycoat and the antenna works 90% of the time. When it hangs up its at the kink. |

Re: power antenna
I haven't had any trouble since I cleaned, dried and siliconed it. Works 100% again
Thanks |

I forgot about Molykote... that's GOOD stuff. I guess there's a reason they pay like $30 for a little tube to lube parts on our $500k centrifuge at work when servicing it.
