Where do you think your Tib excels?

(I don't want to hear flames on this one)

I think, and feel when I'm in my ride that it excels in the corners. Although the car is heavier than alot of car in it's class, I don't know of anyone yet, that can take my car in the corners. (If you don't know already I'm not a fan of drag racing....I guess you could call it touge, but you know my nickname gets flames as it is)

BTW: I'm not talking just "do you think you're Tib excels in corners in straights", but also like, what terrain?, uphill, downhill, 1st gear, 2nd gear....ALL that good stuff

Re: Where do you think your Tib excels?

I can say on my fiances V6......1st gear is the only one that gets up and goes. After that its not much of anything. And for handling, the only reason it does well is the awsome Michelin's that they put on it, and the stock springs are pretty stiff too I guess. I still need to lower it, so I can put the Bronze wheels on.

I'd agree with quick that most of the power and torque of the 3rd gen tibby's comes low end. 1st thru 3rd gears it has some good pull but once you get into higher gears power falls off. All i can say for handling is that it its not bad but its not to good either IMO.

Re: Where do you think your Tib excels?

I'd have to agree with you. I've driven the 1st and 3rd gen Tibs. I agree that the power in the thrid gen is in the lower gears, where I like it...heh, does great for me in the corners and coming out where the lower gears are an assest..

Well, I can't say too much. I've only had my '04 Tibi for just over a week But yeah, most of the power is in the lower gears but even on the highway, a proper downshift surprised me with a pleasant burst of speed. Of course, it is a 6 speed which helps quite a bit when it comes to finding those sweet-spots. I used to drive a '93 Ford Taurus SHO 5-speed. (Hence the yamahamian. Still one of my favorite engines of all time.) And the stock Tibi 6-speed feels like it could keep up without too much trouble. And that's with ~50 less HP than the SHO too!!! That extra gear makes alot of difference on the road.

Re: Where do you think your Tib excels?

I think it has some decent power when on the freeway at about 75 and I drop it into 4th. I just got my car running again and it feels like its going to have soo much power. I cant wait to break her in.

Yeah yeah... I know... Sometimes I wish I had kept that Yamaha and slapped it in my cars since then. I just blew a rod in my 94 Ford Probe GT. If it were Yamahamian, it never would have happened.

I've had enough with Ford though; had to try something new and based on Hyundai's new rep., the Tiburon is exactly what I want.
