Yes you did get raped. Dealerships charge too much for parts and labor, but its done right and your guaranteed their work. They also use OEM parts so thats probably why its expensive.

The problem is that I park in the street and don't have the private space or room to work on my car and live around too too many shady mechanics, plus, all my friends are car illiterate. We're moving though, to a house and I should have the space to store stuff and to work.

Just forget about it. It happens. At least you got the car fixed right. I work on my own car and there have been times when I've had to take it to get it fixed because of time, etc. Afterwards, I've looked at the bill and thought about what I could have used that money for...

You need to ask around and find someone who can do this work for less when you are in a crunch. Even if you work on the car yourself, you need a backup.

lookin at ur profile i see u live in NY. do u live in the city and wat honda dealearship did u go to. i live in central jersey so i mite go to the same dealership u do. just wonderin. and yea u got raped but most people do it they get it done at a dealership. and ur rite in my part of jersey theres alotta shady mechanics in the nyc metro area.

I went to PS Honda in LI cuz they got good reputation and good service and no 2 week appontment needed. Hillside Honda in Queens requires 2-3 week appointment.

Which dealership do you go to in NY and how much do you pay for this service? ANd are they competent?

nah i go to Academy Honda in Old Bridge, New Jersey by staten island. i thought u come down to jersey to get serviced and stuff cuz there are really good honda dealerships out here.

i forgot cuz i dont own a honda anymore and i didnt have to take it there that much neways. but my dad has an 03 Accord EX. so ill ask him. and yea as far as i can see there competent. its one of the biggest honda dealearship in jersey. but if u live in queens i wouldnt come all the way down to middlesex county to get ur car serviced or repaired. and 2-3 weeks is crazy. at academy honda u could just drop the car there overnite or bring it in the morning and they'll have it done. there garage is huge wit alot of mechanics. one of them is my uncle who is the head mechanic and during the summer hes gonna get me a job there.

some shops in NYC and NJ are pretty good. i herd of some places in Staten Island and Queens and Brooklyn. and a this place in South Amboy, NJ called Tuner M. South Amboy is rite next to Perth Amboy rite off the Outerbridge by staten island. its a good place and they are known for building a 1,000hp street legal supra which was the featured car in Modified Car.

man anytime you go to a dealership. You can expect to get raped (No Lube). I live in NY too. YOu gotta ask around, good mechanics are hard as hell to find. I never go to the Honda Dealership. I got a 99 ex coupe.
