painting carbon fiber??

I know I may get flamed for this because some folks think painting carbon fiber is a sin but I need to know.

Can you paint a carbon fiber hood and expect it to come out looking like it matches the rest of the car? I have heard from a couple people that the finish comes out different and may not match. But I would think if you primed it and put enough coats on, you would never know. ??

This is not for the civic... it is for our subaru that came without the hood scoop (which I dig) The only hood I can find that will fit that has the scoop is carbon fiber. The dark blue color of my car would not look good with the cf hood if I dont paint it... IMO

The soob forum is dead and I know people here have experience with CF so I thought I'd take a stab.

You can paint it the same as anything.

we did a VW in our garage and it matched perfectly, didnt even primer it, just sanded and painted one prob tho... he was goin down the track and his hood flew off, not kewl, guess his pins sucked

im guessing it wouldnt be a prob.....but how about this.....ill send you a fiberglass hood and you send me the carbon fiber hood

whats wrong with painting cf man?
i have a white crx, if i went cf on the hood, i'd paint it white, some cars just look retarded with the cf and some pull it off real nice

Yeah, paint it as normal only reason it WONT paint normal is if it isnt sealed right
